gibraltar:

a small group of us went to gibraltar to climb the rock last weekend. the town made me laugh because it reminded me of that episode of arrested development where they went to little britain and all of the cars had to switch sides of the road, which was always disastrous. as soon as we crossed the border from la linea de concepción (spain) into gibraltar, the lines on the street were zig-zaggy, the policemen wore funny outfits, the people spoke with british accents, and we had to convert all of our money into pounds. a strange little oasis of a country within a country.

we had a taxi drop us off at the almost-very-top of the rock. from there, we hiked up to the top then started walking down. there were monkeys (which really freak me out) and caves (which are very cool) absolutely everywhere. the hike down took three-ish hours, and everyone in the group still has sore hips and shins from so much downhill walking. but it was worth the pain. such a beautiful place. here are a few photos:

less than two weeks left of school, a week of traveling with the family, then home. time is going by so quickly!
